Position Highlights
Dr. Lee's laboratory is seeking highly motivated candidates to apply for a Researcher/Scientist IV position at the University of Arizona College of Medicine-Phoenix Campus. The laboratory focuses on understanding how cancer drugs lead to cardiotoxicity using mouse models, patient samples, and patient-specific induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs). The successful candidate will also be responsible for lab managerial duties and serve as the lab supervisor. The ideal applicant will be a self- driven, independent, and team-orientated individual with strong communication skills and a readiness to thrive in a fast-paced research environment.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Design and develop research methods, and conduct pre-clinical, translational studies focused on vascular and cardiac proteomic analysis of both bulk and single cell analyses, utilizing tissues and cells from mouse models.
- Participate in projects on novel therapeutic strategies combining targeted a proteome and genes, with additional studies devised to develop animal models appropriate to evaluate new targeted approaches for cancer drug-induced cardiac dysfunction.
- Serve as senior collaborator on highly complex research initiatives, leading substantive aspects of the project. Collaborate with other researchers, departments, or institutions, leading to interdisciplinary work and are also involved in mentoring and teaching activities.
- Perform scientific data collections, reductions, and analyses involving routine procedures characterized by use of independent judgement.
- Conduct experiments using various tests, routines, and analyses, where procedures are new and results need to be synthesized.
- Compile data and generate computerized statistical data for analytical purposes using software packages, make advanced analyses, and interpret the data.
- Maintain detailed records of studies conducted, organize data, prepare data for computer input ,and record computer output.
- Author articles in peer-reviewed journals, books, or chapter publications.
- Co-author or author publications and co-present results with principal investigators at meetings and conferences.
- Participate in acquiring research funding including initiating and writing grant proposals.
- Ensure regulatory compliance of the research program by coordinating with granting agencies and regulators as required by research program.
- Oversee day-to-day operation of study and may supervise other research and support personnel.
- Provide guidance and oversight to Postdoctoral Associates, Graduate Assistants, and Designated Campus Colleagues.
- Oversee inventory and requisition supplies.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of coordinating experiments, and completing analysis, statistics, and interpretation.
- Skilled in grant writing and manuscript preparation.
- Ability to design and conduct animal/rodent experiments and translational science.
- Ability to participate at scientific conferences and present findings.
- Knowledge in gene expression analyses.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD or equivalent terminal degree in a related discipline required.
- Eight (8) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cardiovascular research, stem cell biology, and animal models of cardiac disease.
- Preference in candidates that have experience working in two or more of the following areas: stem cell biology, animal models of cardiac diseases, epigenetics, sequencing techniques, or gene-editing techniques including CRISPR.
