Senior Quality Engineer

The Senior Quality Engineer role is instrumental in the assessment and management of new supplier quality within manufacturing operations. This position focuses on advanced product quality planning (APQP) to achieve Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) approval, partnering effectively with purchasing, engineering, and operations teams to ensure successful program launches. The engineer will lead the efforts in supplier quality deliverables, coordinate supplier assessments, and maintain robust quality assurance practices to sustain and improve supplier performance in alignment with organizational standards and goals.

Salary: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate preparation and timely delivery of supplier quality deliverables such as Control Plans, Capability Plans, Capability Studies, Part layouts, and Gage R&R.
  • Execute Supplier Advanced Quality Planning including kick-off meetings and Supplier Process Sign-Off.
  • Review and approve Supplier PPAP submissions ensuring all requirements are met.
  • Communicate effectively with suppliers regarding specifications development and interpretation.
  • Analyze and recommend new material sources to ensure production capabilities are maintained at a competitive level.
  • Continuously monitor supplier performance to ensure alignment with company and customer quality standards.
  • Assist in root cause analysis and resolution of external and internal defects.
  • Provide leadership in troubleshooting and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain effective communication with customers to manage expectations and resolve quality-related issues.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in supplier assessment and quality engineering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of TS16949 and ISO quality management systems.
  • Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) methodologies.
  • Ability to generate and interpret technical documents such as PFMEAs, Control Plans, and DFMEAs.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively work with suppliers and internal teams.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five (5) years of industry experience in a quality engineering role.
  • Professional certification in Quality Engineering (CQE) or equivalent.
  • Experience in automotive or aerospace industries.
  • Advanced degrees or certifications in a relevant field.
  • Proven track record of leading successful quality improvement and problem-solving initiatives.
  • Mastery in interpreting complex engineering drawings and technical specifications.
