Director of IT

POSITION DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Director of IT

DEPARTMENT: Tech/IT

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:

As our ideal Director of IT, you are an individual that is naturally attracted to the Surf Air brand and you "get it". You have a strong personality of your own and are committed to offering support to the company and its vision.

The Director of IT will oversee the planning, development, implementation, maintenance, and security of the company's information systems and processes including computer, communication, and office systems.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains management and professional-level staff in the department.
  • Oversees the schedules and responsibilities of management-level staff in the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Establishes the strategic direction of the company's information systems (IS); executes this strategy in collaboration with company leadership.
  • Directs and coordinates professional services such as systems analysis and design, feasibility studies, and programming of information, communication, and office automation systems.
  • Identifies and recommends new technologies and services that will improve efficiency, processes, and operations; reviews requests for additional services and upgrades, assessing the costs and benefits to the organization.
  • Approves the purchase, rent, lease, license, or other acquisition of hardware, software, or services needed to meet company needs.
  • Monitors and reports progress on development projects, resource utilization, and production performance to executive leadership.
  • Ensures the integrity and reliability of computerized information systems, communication systems, and office systems including the security of data acquired and stored.
  • Facilitates preparation of project plans and proposals, outlining project objectives, IS requirements, and analytical and programming staffing requirements for proposed systems.
  • Maintains pace with technological progress, economic change, and company needs by directing continual improvements of IS staff, equipment, and procedures.
  • Prepares, implements, and executes IS budget.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Thorough understanding of IS policies and procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of compliance risks and initiatives
  • Proficient with IT Technology including but not limited to Google, AWS, CRM, IAM, Network, and Web application stacks.
  • Technical skills to troubleshoot unknown problems with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent customer service and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple, simultaneous assignments and tasks throughout the day.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:
  • Masters degree in field of IT, Computer Science, or equivalent training and experience required.
  • At least Fifteen years of experience in a technical role require with significant leadership experience preferred.
  • Experience in leading and managing IT teams across public companies

Miscellaneous Requirements:

  • Computer, phone skills.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English effectively.
  • Ability to work within a 24/7 operation including holidays.
  • Ability to pass 7-year background check and pre-employment drug screen per airline regulations and/or company policy.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. per the Immigration Act of 1986.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Physical requirements:

  • Must have sufficient vision and ability to safely perform the essential functions of the position in a normal office environment.
  • Must be able to communicate through verbal, written and electronic means.
  • Must be able to access filing cabinets, drawers, and shelves of varying height.
  • Must be able to move up to 25 pounds on an infrequent basis.
