Pay range for this position is $43.66 - $62.89/hour. Actual pay is based on years of licensure. This is a Salaried position.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Nursing Informatics Specialist is responsible for the design of clinical information solutions specifically as it applies to nursing applications to enable the delivery of safe, effective, and high quality patient care. In similar fashion, leads information technology innovations, deployment, and optimization efforts based on the organization's clinical performance improvement objectives. Provides clinical subject matter expertise to translate data into information and actionable knowledge in the daily nursing and clinical practice. Works in partnership with Information Technology leadership and staff to translate clinician requirements into specifications for clinical information systems, to identify and prioritize system enhancements, and to redesign work flow in clinical areas. In support of department leadership, researches and recommends new applications and solutions for strategic and tactical clinical needs. Recommends and manages interventions to increase the acceptance and adoption of clinical applications and to encourage the use of information technology in the direct provision of care. Serves as a key liaison to nursing executives and the clinical user community by providing direction and education on clinical information initiatives.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: BSN
  • Experience: 3 years progressively responsible clinical nursing work experience
  • Licensure/Certifications: Registered Nurse, licensed to practice in the State of Illinois

  • Clinical Information Systems
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-directed with excellent organizational, analytical, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to learn new technology quickly, respond quickly to urgent issues, and adapt to changing environment.
  • Demonstrated competence in presentations and other public speaking skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills necessary to communicate effectively with users.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to facilitate process design activities across departmental boundaries.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Education: MSN in Nursing Informatics preferred
  • Experience: 5 years in clinical setting and with information services or working with computer services.
  • Experience with information system implementation and support, preferably in healthcare industry.
  • Licensure/Certifications: Certifications in EPIC applications, Nursing Informatics Certified
  • Other skills or knowledge: Proficient in Microsoft suite of product and related software
