Overview
Reports directly to the EVP, Chief Financial Officer. Assists the EVP with various analytics, presentations, research and projects in support of the accounting, financial reporting & financial planning and analysis (FP&A) portions of the business. Utilizes a broad understanding of accounting and FP&A principles and best practices to complete a diverse set of assignments. Interacts with others in Finance, IT and the business to complete complex assignments. Analyzes complex operational and financial data to provide greater understanding and propose recommendations for future actions. Functions as a trusted advisor to the EVP.

Roles, Responsibilities, and Priorities
Major Areas of accountability
- General
- Assists EVP with various requests received, including requests from the CEO, Board of Directors and other executives.
- Completes a variety of non-recurring assignments and a limited number of recurring assignments, including project management of various open items.
- Participates in the Finance Agile Team assisting with various Finance system related projects.
- Assists in the development of financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, trending, and results analysis.
- Responsible for the completion of ad-hoc data analytics in the following areas: descriptive data analytics to better understand historical data, diagnostic analytics to complete root cause analysis, and prescriptive analytics to help determine future actions.
- Researches applicable laws, regulations, accounting guidance, etc. as needed for new transactions, events, and situations as they arise.
- Collaborates with others in Finance, IT and operations to understand data, trends and gather insights.
- Works through ambiguous assignments to uncover needed information or identify potential solutions to issues.
- Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions.
- Makes recommendations to reduce risk, increase efficiency or otherwise improve processes.
- Completes deliverables in a variety of formats as warranted by the assignments, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, email, verbal updates, etc.
- Appropriately documents all projects completed, including request made, analysis completed, and output created.
- Functions as the lead on most assignments with little oversight.
- Responsible for workload prioritization and completion within requested deadlines.
- Provides leader and other interested parties with regular communication and status updates on assignments.
- Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
- Uses various software applications to obtain, manipulate, compile and/or format data and reports.
- Functions as a back-up on some Finance processes.
- Assist with special finance and accounting related projects as requested.

Education and experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance related field plus 5 years of accounting experience or a four-year degree plus 10 years of accounting experience.
- CPA strongly preferred
- Insurance experience is a plus
