GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITY:
Regional H&S Manager - is responsible for leading the implementation and oversight of the organization's Health & Safety programs. This role ensures that all facility operations comply with federal, provincial, and local regulations, including occupational health and safety (OHS), industrial hygiene, hazardous materials handling, and permitting requirements.
The Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with COR (Certificate of Recognition) certification in both British Columbia and Alberta.
The H&S Manager position demands a strong daily presence in our site yards interacting with yard and production employees conducting audits and general inspections.
The H&S Manager reports directly to the Senior EHS Manager.
NATURE AND SCOPE OF THE POSITION:

The H&S Manager - will lead Health and safety and initiatives across four facilities in British Columbia and Alberta, ensuring regulatory compliance, operational efficiency, and a strong safety culture. This includes internal audits, inspections, regulatory reporting, employee training, and contractor management.
A high degree of initiative and leadership is required to stay ahead of regulatory changes and drive safety. Strong decision-making skills are essential for prioritizing initiatives, and the ability to engage employees through effective training and communication is critical to fostering a proactive safety culture.
Scope:
This position has a direct impact on the organizational Health and Safety program by ensuring adherence to Federal, Provincial and company requirements. The Manager will work closely with operational leaders, government agencies, and industry regulators to manage internal and external programs.

SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Safety Leadership & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with OHS regulations and maintain the COR safety certification by leading audits, updating safety programs, and training employees.
- The H&S Manager must have experience with injury management.
- Conduct workplace safety inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations, ensuring corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Provide expert guidance on workplace safety, hazard controls, and emergency response planning.
- Develop and oversee safety training programs for employees and contractors, including orientations and specialized courses (e.g., Lockout/Tagout, Fire Safety, TDG).
- Program Administration & Reporting:
- Develop, implement, and maintain H &S policies, procedures, and training materials to align with industry best practices.
- Track and report safety and environmental performance metrics, analyzing trends to identify areas for improvement.
- Maintain accurate documentation related to safety audits, training records, incident investigations, and regulatory compliance.
- Act as a liaison with government agencies and external auditors.
- Employee Engagement & Culture Development:
- Lead initiatives to promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility throughout the organization.
- Collaborate with managers and supervisors to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.
- Actively participate as a key member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC).
- Organize and lead emergency response and fire drills and training sessions.
- Other Duties as Assigned:
- Support operational leaders in executing company-wide H &S initiatives.
- Any and all duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree or Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
- Extensive experience in safety and environmental compliance within a heavy industrial environment.
- Proven experience managing COR certification and maintaining a compliant safety management system.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling.
- Ability to interpret and apply regulatory requirements in a practical and operational setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to engage employees at all levels.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 and ability to maintain accurate records and reports.
- Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and accident investigations.
- Ability to travel to sites across BC and Alberta, with occasional travel to the USA.
- A reliable vehicle is required as some site locations are not transit accessible.
