Position Overview
We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Controller to lead our accounting team during a pivotal stage of growth. This role combines operational oversight with process transformation and team development. The Controller will be responsible for the company's accounting operations, financial reporting, cash and treasury management, lease and fixed asset accounting, and acquisition integration. The ideal candidate will have healthcare and multi-entity experience, a strong technical foundation, and the leadership capacity to build scalable infrastructure and develop a high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Reporting
Lead all general ledger accounting, consolidations, and intercompany allocations across 50+ locations.
Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with high accuracy and timeliness.
Oversee processes for payroll journal entries, fixed asset accounting, and lease compliance.
Ensure appropriate documentation and posting of opening balance sheets for new acquisitions.
Map legacy G/Ls into the consolidated ERP during integration.
Cash, AP, & Treasury
Manage cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions.
Oversee accounts payable, leveraging Stampli OCR for automation and efficiency.
Compliance, Audit & Tax
Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
Coordinate with external tax advisors on filings and compliance.
Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and risk management practices.
Process Improvement & Systems
Drive improvement in the monthly close process, accrual entries, and reporting automation.
Support the ERP transition (from Microsoft Dynamics GP to a modern solution) and ensure system alignment with future growth.
Integration & Scalability
Partner with M&A and Finance teams to support seamless financial integration of acquisitions.
Establish scalable processes and reporting structures to support future multi-state growth.
Leadership & Development
Manage and mentor a growing team of four (and expanding).
Build a culture of accountability, professional development, and process ownership across the accounting function.
Serve as a thought partner to the CFO and collaborate closely with FP&A, RCM, Operations, and IT teams.
Requirements
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership capacity.
Background in multi-entity healthcare services or private equity-backed environments strongly preferred.
Expertise in GAAP, consolidations, revenue cycle-related accounting, and acquisition integration.
CPA preferred; MBA or equivalent experience a plus.
Proven track record of team leadership, process improvement, and system implementation.
Experience with ERP transitions and automation tools (e.g., Stampli, Adaptive Planning, etc.).
Hands-on and adaptable, capable of balancing strategic priorities with detailed execution.
