What we are looking for:
As a member of the Surgical System team, you will be responsible for all aspects of nursing care and provision of services in the Outpatient Procedure Suites (OPS) - Procedure Unit. Your responsibilities on OPS will include endoscopy related procedures (colonoscopy, gastroscopy, ERCP and bronchoscopy), urologic surgical procedures (TURP, laser stone extraction, cystoscopy) and minor surgical procedures from the urologic, plastic and ear/nose/throat specialities.). You will be actively participating in patient safety and patient advocacy throughout the care experience while working in an interprofessional team environment.
What you bring to the role:
RN with undergraduate nursing degree
Certificate of registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse
Post graduate Certificate in Operating Room Nursing required
Current BCLS certification
Minimum of 2 years working in Endoscopy related procedure environment preferred
Demonstrated knowledge of the OPANA standards is an asset
Membership with the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO)
Ability to work both independently and as part of an interprofessional care team member
Excellent communication skills with the ability to foster positive working relationships with interprofessional team members
Familiar with professional and hospital standards, guidelines and procedures
Excellent problem-solving skills, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
Ability to provide and receive constructive feedback
Excellent organizational skills with an ability to prioritize
Proficient computer skills
Evidence of professional development, continuing education and leadership experience is required
Demonstrated good attendance and performance records with the ability to maintain these same standards
Demonstrates a commitment to a healthy and safe workplace for self and others (staff, patients, families, etc.) by taking all reasonable precautions and working in compliance with organization related policies, health and safety legislation and best practices and completing relevant mandatory education as required
Work Schedule:
The successful candidate must be available to work 4 days per week Monday - Friday, Days 0700-1700.
