Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Legal Counsel with a focus on Intellectual Property to join our team. In this pivotal role (as a member of the Office of General Counsel), you will leverage your expertise to perform comprehensive legal analysis, conduct research, and draft insightful opinions and papers of moderate complexity. As an advisor to the firm's management, you will provide valuable legal guidance and support. Key Responsibilities:
Develop, review and negotiate contracts including those relating to intellectual property protection, licensing and confidentiality.
Offer consultation and advisory services on moderately complex or critical issues concerning the firm's rights, privileges, and obligations.
Prepare legal opinion letters, memoranda, or analyses involving legal principles, risk-benefits, and compliance on work of a moderately complex nature.
Stay updated on legal and regulatory changes, including in intellectual property.
Collaborates with outside counsel, consultants, or third parties on legal issues; manage the firm's claims and lawsuits as assigned.
Coordinate with various departments to ensure compliance with intellectual property regulations and align strategies accordingly.
Prepare and conduct staff training on various legal matters, including intellectual property protection.
Performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Juris Doctorate and a license to practice law in state employed.
2 years of related experience.
Domestic and/or international travel may be required. The frequency of travel is contingent on specific duties, responsibilities, and the essential functions of the position, which may vary depending on workload and project demands.
Preferred Qualifications
Undergraduate degree and/or experience in related technical field (e.g., engineering, architecture, construction management, software development).
Experience with Intellectual Property (IP) prosecution/defense.
Familiarity with Intellectual Property (IP) management software.
Experience with Software as a Service (SaaS).

Background Check and Drug Testing Information
CDM Smith Inc. and its divisions and subsidiaries (hereafter collectively referred to as "CDM Smith") reserves the right to require background checks including criminal, employment, education, licensure, etc. as well as credit and motor vehicle when applicable for certain positions.
