Johnson and Johnson is recruiting for a Staff Manufacturing Engineer in Palm Beach Gardens, FL.

Positions at this level within Robotics and Power Tools are considered subject matter experts. Typically, they create new processes and methods, and design experiments using appropriate statistical methodology. They are coordinating all functions of a team, providing leadership and guidance to the individual team members. These positions may act as team lead and are project accountable. Individuals in these positions frequently have significant amounts of critical organizational knowledge.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES*
  • Under limited supervision and in accordance with all applicable federal, state and local laws/regulations and Corporate Johnson & Johnson, procedures and guidelines, this position:
  • Fully competent engineer in all conventional aspects of the subject matter, functional area, and assignments
  • Provides personal expertise, as well as project leadership
  • Responsibility may include management and development of one to three Manufacturing Engineers.
  • Understands and follows the manufacturing processes accurately and maintains high quality process validation and verifications.
  • Primarily hands-on worker, with instruction or supervision of others secondary to own technical work
  • Recognized as a leader on projects and assignments.
  • Acts as team leader when manager is not available
  • Mentors junior professionals
  • Uses expertise to improve operational efficiencies and meet compliance requirements
  • Possesses thorough understanding of all precedents, practices, or scientific theories and principles in a specialized or technical field
  • Design and execute mechanical tests and scientific experiments, present data and conclusions with appropriate analysis and write technical reports
  • Independently determine and develop approaches to solutions with technical guidance on the most unusual or complex problems
  • A working knowledge of related disciplines
  • Plans, conducts and directs research, development or engineering assignments
  • Under general supervision carries out an important segment of a large and complex engineering program or a smaller program of limited complexity and scope
  • Conceives, plans, and implements solutions to technical problems requiring unconventional approaches, new designs, and equipment and process development.
  • May be responsible for operating within a budget, and may provide input on budget allocation and prioritization
  • Know and follow all laws and policies that apply to one's job, and maintain the highest levels of professionalism, ethics and compliance at all times.
  • Diligently participate in our compliance program-related activities as denoted by your supervisor or our Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Promote and nurture the highest standards of professionalism, ethics and compliance, and actively support our compliance program-related initiatives and activities.
  • Consistently enforce employee compliance, including attendance at training programs, and promptly report any non-compliance to the Chief Compliance Officer.
  • Responsible for communicating business related issues or opportunities to next management level.
  • For those who supervise or manage a staff, responsible for ensuring that subordinates follow all Company guidelines related to Health, Safety and Environmental practices and that all resources needed to do so are available and in good condition, if applicable.
  • Responsible for ensuring personal and Company compliance with all Federal, State, local and Company regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Performs other duties assigned as needed


EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION*
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) required.
  • MSE in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred.
  • Examples of experience and education are as follows:
  • Typically requires advanced post education and extensive process manufacturing experience
  • Typically requires 7 - 9 years of experience with BS or equivalent, 4 - 6 years with MS or Ph.D. with 2 - 4 years of experience
  • Demonstrated success in leading project team from concept through introduction according to project plan.
  • Demonstrated exceptional creative design and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience in the Medical Device industry or medical field
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing principles and practices, and procedures
  • Ability to work cooperatively with coworkers and the public


REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES and AFFILIATIONS*
  • Excellent communication and interaction skills, especially when describing technical concepts to surgeons, sales personnel, and senior management.
  • Maintains a high level of professionalism in communication also with local as well as international peers.
  • Highly recognized as experienced and professional engineer by peers.
  • Must be able to work independently, provide multiple solutions to problems and make systems work together.
  • Well organized, self-motivated, energetic, creative, resourceful, insightful, personable and articulate.
  • Must possess strong leadership, management and teamwork qualities.
  • Six-Sigma and Lean certifications preferred
  • FPx and/or Project Management certifications preferred
