As the Sales Steering Manager, you will establish volume and revenue goals to maximize profitability for the company. You will produce and analyze sales forecasts, trends and budgets to assist in the development and maintenance of accounts.

Responsibilities
- Guide, coach and support the Sales Steering department.
- Monitor and measure workload of staff to ensure best processes are in place.
- Assist management in the development of global volume/revenue budgets and forecasts while monitoring overall performance of accounts.
- Steer sales staff to pursue the most attractive business based on equipment imbalances, ship system requirements and target accounts/commodities.
- Analyze competitive information and statistical data.
- Monitor and provide reports on performance vs. budget and communicate results with the sales department and management.
- Facilitate e-business initiatives to enhance customer and carrier efficiencies.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly actuals and trend results.
- Market equipment effectively by steering containers to equipment demand areas and depleting surplus areas.
- Communicate new requirements, processes and procedures to staff.
- Make certain that all departmental and functional training requirements are fulfilled.
- Ensure consistent application of Hapag-Lloyd policies to all personnel actions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of experience in the Maritime Industry or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Generally responsible for managing employees within the Sales Steering Department.
- Provide coaching to develop others through self-reflection and/or knowledge sharing.
- Knowledge and understanding of most shipping terms, routings, schedules and the general practices of various countries, carriers, ports and terminals for job assignments and the willingness to clarify shipping terms unique to a location.
- Exhibit excellent communication and organizational skills by understanding, acquiring new skills, making requests, asking questions and relaying information with ease.
- Provide excellent customer service by offering persistent enthusiasm in all interactions, giving high priority to their satisfaction, and anticipating their business needs through questioning, listening and understanding.
