The Cypress of Hilton Head is recruiting for an Accounting Director to lead our Accounting Operations and guide our team in all things Finance! This Director position is responsible for taking a lead role in developing and implementing our annual budget and steering our daily expenses throughout the year.

Here are a few responsibilities of the Accounting Director:
  • Supervises Accounts Receivable, Medicare Billing, Payroll, Accounts Payable and all Accounting Operations.
  • Prepares monthly financial statements by preparing all journal entries, adjusting journal entries, entering data into computerized general ledger system and reviewing results for accuracy. Takes responsibility for accuracy and timeliness of all interim, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Maintains subsidiary ledgers, including fixed assets, accounts receivable, accounts payable and capital asset ledger, and reviews operating statement and reconciles balance sheet accounts.
  • Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expense and net surplus/ deficit on past, present and expected operations.
  • Establishes, modifies, documents and coordinates implementation of accounting and accounting control procedures.
  • Supervises the preparation of monthly billings to Cypress Members and Health Center Residents. Responds to questions or concerns of Members and/or families regarding their bills. Monitors and takes action on past-due accounts.
  • Processes monthly electronic funds transfers from Members' accounts to pay monthly bills. Processes electronic funds transfers between Cypress entities. Maintains bank account records and monitors cash balances. Reconciles bank records, deposits and accounts.
  • Arranges for audits of company's accounts. Serves as point person for all external audits. Works with outside auditor and Life Care Services in preparation for year-end work papers. Coordinates submission of payroll taxes, 1099 and W-2 reports. Coordinates quarterly payroll tax reports.
  • Tracks all reserve expenditures. Forecasts reserve levels and helps determine assessment amounts.
  • Understands the responsibility to report suspected violations of The Cypress Code of Conduct to appropriate persons, or to The Cypress Compliance Hotline, or by completing a Written Report of Suspected Compliance Violation or by contacting a Corporate Compliance Officer directly.
  • Takes a lead role with the monthly financial analysis and explanation of variances as well as the annual budget preparation.
  • Plans cash transfers between accounts and companies to maximize interest earnings. Recommends and monitors short-term investments of cash. Takes responsibility for cash control. Insures all miscellaneous monies are properly handled.
  • Processes, submits and follows-up on all insurance policies and claims.

Here are a few of the qualifications we need you to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance preferred plus five years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA preferred.
  • Excel and general computer experience required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
