About this opportunity:
Join Cenovus Energy as the Front-End Development Director, leading multidisciplinary teams in developing cost-effective, early-stage project scopes for Cenovus Energy's Downstream portfolio located at the Dublin, OH office. In this role, you will oversee projects through FEL 0-2 and manage process design for all downstream capital projects, including refineries, upgraders, chemicals, and terminals. Working closely with sites, Project Execution, and the Portfolio Manager, you will ensure strategic project development and funding decisions. Your expertise in downstream operations, process design, and economics is essential to delivering a technically sound, scope-efficient solution within a $300M annual portfolio. This position will be in Dublin, OH, but will consider individuals who reside in any of the US Cenovus Refineries (Lima, OH; Toledo, OH; Superior, WI) with travel to Dublin.

What you'll do:
- Provide strategic leadership to multidisciplinary teams, ensuring project scopes are cost-competitive and effectively managed.
- Coordinate the portfolio of projects progressing through FEL 0, 1, and 2 stages, ensuring alignment and technical rigor.
- Collaborate with downstream sites and the Project Execution organization to determine project development and funding strategies.
- Implement practices to ensure projects are developed with minimal technical solutions, reducing scope rework.
- Manage a centralized team of Asset Development Engineers, guiding projects through engineering stages 0/1/2A/2B.
Who you are:
- Legally authorized to work in the US
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemical
- 20+ years of experience in downstream unit operations and technical roles
- Demonstrated experience in Project Development, Process Design, and Project Execution in refinery systems
- Strong knowledge and experience in downstream operations, project development, process design, and downstream economics
