What is the opportunity?
Join RBC Global Asset Management (GAM) in the role of Sr. Manager, Risk Assurance. You will be primarily responsible for leading control assurance, controls optimization, issue management and internal audits of GAM. What will you do?
Co-ordination & delegated chair of the RBC GAM Risk Oversight Committee and RBC GAM North America Incident Committee Meetings:
- Maintain and update the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the Committee as required.
- Delegated chair to ensure each meeting is planned effectively, conducted according to the TOR and matters are dealt with in an orderly and efficient manner.
- Minute the meeting and obtain approval from the members.
- Follow-up on Committee actions to ensure timely completion and escalate if required.
Coordinate and optimization of controls assurance and internal audit for GAM Global:
- Coordinate with RBC Regional Internal Audit teams (CA, US and UK) to monitor the GAM Internal Audit Plan and ensure alignment between regions and no overlap in audit activities for centralized / shared services groups.
- Leading the MARC discussions with the and work with relevant teams to ensure appropriate governance and processes are in place.
- Develop and execute the control assurance roadmap to ensure coverage of all processes, alignment between regions to achieve efficiencies and provide management and GAM clients with appropriate assurance reports.
Risk & control optimization:
- Ensure alignment of key risks & controls across the GAM units in alignment with GAM Operating model
- Identify opportunities for control efficiencies and improvement across GAM.
- Coordinate with the relevant business owner, Project/Process improvement team to achieve implementation of the control improvement.
- Perform incident trends to identify opportunities for improvement. Actively identify opportunities to improve the trade incident/error rate continuously.
Issues Management:
- Monitor and oversee the issues management for GAM Global to ensure timely completion of action plan or escalation to Senior Management on any potential issue slippage.
- Support the business groups in formulating achievable and reasonable action plans to mitigate risks for findings raised during internal audit, compliance or other regulatory reviews.
(Note - scope excludes Fund audits and financial statement audits)
1st line oversight of FATCA/CRS:
- Maintain centralized point of contact as 1st Line defense oversight program for monitoring compliance with the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) and Common Reporting Standard (CRS) regulations for GAM Global.
- Ensure compliance with Enterprise Compliance Standards for FATCA CRS and oversee the programs globally:
- Completeness of control documentation and implementation of new controls in alignment with Enterprise Requirements
- Lead the control testing for FATCA CRS
- Regularly update the management on FATCA CRS programs updates, challenges, or issues.
What do you need to succeed?
Must Have
- Minimum 5 years of Operational Risk or Audit experience
- Experience in leading Risk and Controls assessments
- Experience in financial services (preferably Buy or Sell side financial industry)
- Experience of working with senior stakeholders
- Analytical mindset and strong attention to detail.
Nice to Have
- Professional Audit qualification
- Experience in leading assurance programmes such as SSAE / ISAE / SOC
