Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Description:
This position is responsible for providing patients with diagnostic radiologic testing.
It includes the proper management of workflow to ensure that all patients receive the best care possible.
Responsibilities include performing radiologic procedures with all x-ray equipment only when requested by a physician.
The technologist will introduce themselves to the patient and fully explain the exam prior to its start.
Obtaining proper patient history, including previous allergic reactions, history of allergies, menstrual history, and other pertinent information is required for patient safety.
The technologist positions the patient in the x-ray equipment for each view using the appropriate techniques to reduce radiation exposure.
Proper shielding, collimation, and immobilization devices must be utilized for each age-specific group.
Communication is essential, including informing and explaining to patients about delays exceeding 15 minutes from the scheduled appointment time.
Maintaining clean and stocked work areas is a must, including checking emergency kits, oxygen, and suction.
Reporting low supplies to the supervisor and replacing supplies used during procedures is expected.
Learning and practicing sterile techniques when required for a procedure is necessary, along with assisting the radiologist during fluoroscopy and special procedures.
The technologist should become familiar with the hospital and radiology information system.
Utilizing the PACS system properly is required.
Daily review of bulletin boards and mailboxes for important information regarding new policies, procedures, or updates is necessary.
Additional duties may be assigned as needed.
The position requires strong verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills.
A high degree of independent action and judgment is essential, along with creativity.
The ability to work under deadlines while being flexible to handle special requests is important.
Multitasking under stressful situations is necessary, along with the ability to handle such situations professionally.
Compassionate patient care is vital, and attention to detail is required.
All education must have been obtained from a recognized college or university.
Additional education may substitute for experience requirements should it not conflict with licensing standards.
2 years of imaging-related experience is preferred.
