About the role:
Reporting into the Sr. Manager, Mechanical & Systems Engineering, the Sr Software Engineer is responsible for supporting both new product development (NPD) and internal operational excellence across Production, Calibration, and Service. As a key member of the Systems Engineering team, you'll design, develop, and maintain the software tools and applications critical to ensuring the quality and performance of our oceanographic instruments. This role offers the opportunity to contribute across the full product lifecycle, from new product launch preparation to continuous process improvement on the production floor.
This position is part of the Engineering Team located in Bellevue, WA and will be On-site role.

The below range reflects the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future. An associate's position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, any collective bargaining agreements, and business or organizational needs.
The compensation range for this role is $125,000.00 - $135,000.00 USD per year. This job is also eligible for Bonus Pay.

- Design, develop, and maintain software applications supporting Production, Calibration, and Service teams.
- Create and improve tools that optimize workflows, enhance data accuracy, and support the manufacturing and servicing of Sea-Bird's precision instruments.
- Partner with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Operations, Service) to identify software needs and develop innovative, efficient solutions.
- Implement robust development practices, including unit testing, source control, and issue tracking, to ensure software quality and maintainability.
- Contribute to the software design and implementation phases for new product launches, ensuring operational readiness before release.
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
- 5-10 years of software development experience, preferably in an industrial, instrumentation, or production environment.
- Strong hands-on experience with C# and the .NET Framework.
- Proven ability to deliver scalable and reliable software solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Python for scripting or automation.
- Familiarity with unit testing frameworks (e.g., NUnit, Jest, Pytest).
- Experience with source control systems like GitHub or Subversion.
- Knowledge of SQL and structured database design.
- Exposure to full-stack development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP).
- Experience using bug tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Trac, Bugzilla).
- Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and documentation skills.
