In May 2018, the World Bank Group (WBG) adopted a high-level, principles-based privacy policy reflecting international privacy standards (the Privacy Policy), which became operational on February 1, 2021. The World Bank Data Privacy Office (DPO), under the Chief Risk Office Operational Risk, is responsible for establishing and overseeing the World Bank's privacy framework under the Privacy Policy. The DPO has established a privacy program with implementing documentation, technical and organizational measures, and training and outreach activities to operationalize the Privacy Policy at the Bank.
The DPO is looking to recruit a Privacy Analyst to support the mission of the DPO and implement the World Bank privacy program.
Duties and Accountabilities
The Privacy Analyst will report to the Chief Data Privacy Officer (CDPO) and perform tasks as assigned by the CDPO and Senior Privacy Officer. The primary responsibilities of the Privacy Analyst will include:
Developing and managing a web cookie governance privacy framework to ensure the World Bank (WB) meets global best practices for web-based disclosures.
Providing advice to WB business units on operationalizing the Privacy Policy and other framework documents;
Developing and delivering custom privacy training to business units across the WB;
Partnering with business units to promote privacy by design;
Reviewing privacy impact assessments for new technologies, vendors and processing of personal data at the WB, and assisting in implementing and documenting privacy controls to mitigate privacy risk;
Managing the analysis and reporting of data privacy incidents occurring within the business units, recording such analyses in the Privacy Portal, and working with business units to develop action plans to resolve incidents;
Supporting the CDPO in response to Requests for Information and Calls for Review, including drafting responses, conducting analyses and coordinating with relevant WB units to ensure prompt action in response to such requests.
Working with the DPO team to ensure the availability of up-to-date templates for privacy notices and other similarly required documents for use by staff and business units;
Facilitating the creation and maintenance of personal data inventories (including appropriate data mapping) and records of processing activities;
Coordinating with the other WB risk partners to identify, assess and mitigate risks;
Partnering with other World Bank Group institutions regarding the implementation of the WBG Privacy Policy;
Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Selection Criteria
Degree in Law or Master's degree in information science, data-related sciences or similar field.
At least 2 years of relevant privacy experience, including international organization, in-house, or government experience.
Familiarity with the WB privacy program.
Advanced proficiency with OneTrust privacy compliance technology, including privacy assessment, cookie compliance, and data incident tracking modules.
Understanding of web-based technologies, cloud storage and application solutions, and technical privacy controls.
Sound problem-solving skills with stellar business judgment and ability to think flexibly and creatively.
Excellent written and oral English skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities with various stakeholders, often under time pressure.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with counterparties inside and outside the World Bank.
Proficiency with standard IT software packages (e.g., MSWord, PowerPoint, Excel).
CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) and/or CIPM (Certified Information Privacy Manager) designation by IAPP (International Association of Privacy Professionals) or demonstrable experience in privacy or related program management.
