Operates mammography equipment and performs various mammography-related examinations to produce radiograph images for clinical screening and diagnostic purposes.
Job Description
Ensures accurate body positioning and provides mammograms to women under direct supervision. Implements radiation safety standards and relevant policies into imaging practices. Processes and evaluates the technical quality of images. Delivers care and support services to clients before, during, and after mammogram procedures (e.g. explaining procedures, answering inquires, etc.).
Possesses a positive attitude, compassion, and an acceptance of diversity. Maintains records and updates history associated with mammography. Educates women the importance of mammography in preventing breast cancer. Demonstrates knowledge and an understanding of anatomy, pathology, physiology, and medical terminology. Maintains continuing education credits as necessary.
Sanford Rural Health Network Facility sites may expand job responsibilities based on the needs of the facility, to include, but not limited to: on-call rotation nights, weekends, and holidays. Perform diagnostic radiology procedures. Perform basic diagnostic radiology tasks and aware of general radiology protocols. May perform mobile imaging, electrocardiogram (EKG), cardiac monitor placement, and dual energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) procedures.
Qualifications
Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or Joint
Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) is required.
A thorough understanding of mammography techniques and procedures is preferred.
Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required. Certified or obtain ARRT certification
in Mammography within one year of hire.
When applicable, maintenance of a valid driver's license and good driving record is required. Employees are held to the Sanford category driver's license policy and medical guidelines when applicable for job duties.
If working in North Dakota and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the North Dakota Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.
