Job Description
Job Title: MRI Technologist
Profession: MRI Tech

Hours per Shift: 10 hours (Saturday and Sunday, 7 AM - 5:30 PM)
Experience: Minimum 1 year
License: Certified MRI Technologist or ARRT Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS)

Description:
Must be flexible with work hours to meet department needs.
Must be dependable, accountable, and cooperative.
Assists with providing safe, age-appropriate care to the patient by performing all exams.
Has the knowledge and ability to properly and safely obtain a quality diagnostic study.
Responsible for performing a wide variety of technical procedures.
Sets up the equipment to provide imaging service and positions the patient for the procedure.
Obtains complete clinical history, gathers examination data, and assesses for contraindicating conditions.
Follows established procedures for the administration of contrast media.
Ensures that all studies have proper patient identification.
Reviews images for clinically acceptable results and releases patients.
Responds to emergency situations.
Observes patient condition and properly evaluates situations when physician intervention is necessary.
Verifies the correct identity of the patient prior to performing a procedure.
Ensures patient privacy and comfort throughout the exam.
Demonstrates competence in determination and application of appropriate procedures.
Organizes schedule, time, and priorities to accomplish required activities.
Follows physician's instructions when assisting with procedures and exams.
Demonstrates understanding of pre-and post-procedural care.
Prepares the patient for the procedure.
Demonstrates and understands sterile technique.
Prepares trays and catheters for procedures.
Prepares and may administer contrast.
Uses appropriate safety devices to protect the patient's hearing during the exam.
Understands anatomical positioning and correct labeling of body parts.
Uses critical thinking skills and seeks clarification on ambiguous orders.
Demonstrates ability to adjust technique for optimum image quality.
Reports problems regarding malfunctioning equipment.
Cleans, disinfects, and maintains equipment in accordance with infection control policy.
Patiently and clearly explains the purpose and nature of the exam to patients.
Ensures that patient's questions, concerns, or contraindications are satisfactorily addressed.
Participates in the orientation and training of departmental employees.
Documentation must be concise, legible, and include precise terminology.
Reads emails each day scheduled to work and follows through with assignments.
Completes mandatory departmental and required education.
Produces acceptable images and follows established exam protocols.
Ensures that equipment is fully operational prior to use.
Maintains MRI suite in a safe environment.
Restocks linens and supplies and maintains an orderly condition in the department.
Transports and positions patients and helps them on and off the procedure table.
Performs patient charging activities on the day the service is rendered.
Applies supportive and immobilization devices.
Willingly lends knowledge and assistance to others as needed.
Performs routine clerical duties when warranted.
Keeps supervisor informed on all responsibilities.
Maintains individual productivity rate equal to co-workers.
Operates all work stations associated with the MRI scanner.
Maintains standards set by regulatory agencies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Takes call when necessary.
