Job Summary

Designs, develops, implements, and manages environmental health and safety programs and procedures for multiple distribution centers. Ensures all facilities are compliant with safety regulations.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
  • Manages the development and administration of EHS activities and operations to ensure compliance with internal and external policies and regulations.
  • Creates and implements policies and procedures to identify and mitigate hazardous workplace conditions.
  • Develops sustainable processes to determine the effectiveness of EHS programs and training materials.
  • Identifies and appraises risk conditions that could cause occupational injuries or illnesses.
  • Leads incident investigations related to injuries, accidents, regulatory activities, and facility damages.
  • Provides technical support and information to distribution center leadership on EHS-related issues.
  • Tracks and analyzes incidents within assigned region, including creating and implementing solutions to minimize accidents and injuries.
  • Ensures field associates have applicable trainings and certifications.

Nature and Scope
  • Solutions require analysis and investigation.
  • Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience.
  • Manages a group or team of professional individual contributors and/or indirectly supervises support staff.

Work Environment
  • Usually located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors causing moderate physical discomfort, such as dust, fumes, or odors.
  • Most of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking and/or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
  • Typically requires overnight travel 20% to 50% of the time.

Education and Experience
  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 7+ years of experience in a related field. May require certification. Advanced degree may offset less experience in some disciplines.
