Financial Controller

We are seeking a dedicated Financial Controller to join our century-old manufacturing firm, specializing in custom forgings, bar stock, heat treating, and rough machining. With annual revenues between $15 and $20 million, we are committed to maintaining our leadership in the industry through diligent oversight and strategic financial planning. This role is crucial in steering the company towards sustained profitability and compliance, offering a competitive salary and a robust benefits package.

Salary: $80,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage the operations of the accounting department, ensuring adherence to financial policies and procedures.
  • Handle all aspects of accounts payable and accounts receivable, optimising cash flow management strategies.
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements monthly, quarterly, and annually.
  • Present financial statements and reports to the Board of Directors.
  • Develop comprehensive financial reports upon request, analyzing and interpreting data to support business decisions.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop, implement, and oversee budgets and financial forecasts.
  • Maintain impeccable accounting records in accordance with legal requirements and company policies.
  • Collaborate with external accounting firms for the annual financial statement review, company tax returns, ownership tax returns, and retirement plan annual audits.
  • Approve payroll processes, ensuring accurate and timely compensation to all staff.
  • Guarantee confidentiality of financial information, records, and strategic plans.
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Engage in continuous professional development through workshops and professional literature to maintain and enhance technical knowledge.

Minimum Position Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • At least 3 years of financial management experience in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
  • Strong command over financial software and systems.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality and data security.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • CPA or CMA certification is highly desirable.
  • Experience in the manufacturing industry, particularly within a company with complex product offerings.
  • Advanced knowledge in corporate taxation and accounting regulations.
  • Leadership experience with a proven track record of financial management and team development.
  • Familiarity with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
