What is the opportunity?
Working with the Director, Sourcing Execution and with RBC business leaders, the role will influence sourcing decisions and drive risk mitigation efforts by providing sourcing expertise to a portfolio of internal clients across RBC Functions (Human Resources, Group Risk Management, Chief Finance Office, Internal Audit, Chief Legal and Administration Office). Objectives include 1) building strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders to optimize third-party spend, foster thought partnership and drive stakeholder value; 2) delivering sourcing execution excellence by consistently adhering to policies and processes while continuously contributing to improving the Procurement practice at RBC; and 3) drive both financial and non-financial benefits that are aligned with RBC goals and values. This role potentially covers multiple sourcing categories including but not limited to professional services, HR services, software, management consulting.

What is the opportunity?

This role potentially covers multiple sourcing categories including but not limited to professional services, HR services, software, management consulting.
What will you do?
- Proactively manage a pipeline of sourcing activities, create plans to identify and recommend alternative sourcing strategies that maximize value for RBC.
- Lead and execute complex sourcing initiatives (e.g. RFI, RFP, category strategy execution).
- Negotiate and draft complex supplier contracts with support from centers of governance.
- Advise business groups on fair sourcing and risk mitigation practices.
- Build effective and strong relationships with internal clients (at all seniority levels) by understanding requirements and dynamics across stakeholder groups, decision makers and influencers.
- Secure stakeholder support for complex decisions, including the ones that may be unpopular, high-risk, or contentious.
- Identify, research, analyze and prioritize possible new sourcing opportunities and/or process changes through internal spend analysis, knowledge of business unit, market research, and interactions with internal stakeholders.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have
- Post-secondary education in related fields
- 7+ years' experience in conducting strategic sourcing activities including negotiating in a competitive (RFx) and non-completive environment (direct negotiation) and drafting complex contract terms with minimal support from Legal counsel.
- Experience in leading stakeholder interactions/relationships and influencing business decisions.
- Experience in leading complex, multi-stakeholder projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
Nice-to-have
- Management consulting and software negotiation experience.
