About the Role:
You have a critical role in supporting AICPA's state advocacy efforts, with a focus on legal and regulatory research, Uniform Accountancy Act (UAA) matters, and administrative coordination within the state advocacy team. You will analyze state-level legislative and regulatory changes, help with advocacy programs, and provide research.
You will use a hybrid work schedule from our Washington DC offices and report to the Director for State Advocacy.

The Annual Salary Range for this role is: $104,000 - $145,000 per annum. There is no non-wage compensation.

About the Role:
You have a critical role in supporting AICPA's state advocacy efforts, with a focus on legal and regulatory research, Uniform Accountancy Act (UAA) matters, and administrative coordination within the state advocacy team. You will analyze state-level legislative and regulatory changes, help with advocacy programs, and provide research.
You will use a hybrid work schedule from our Washington DC offices and report to the Director for State Advocacy.
You Will:
- Conduct legal and regulatory research on state policies affecting the CPA profession, including licensing laws, UAA amendments, and regulatory developments.
- Monitor state legislative activity, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for AICPA and state societies.
- Research and track state adoption of UAA provisions, highlighting inconsistencies or gaps that require advocacy efforts; and assist with policy development and regulatory updates.
- Support the team in developing policy recommendations related to CPA licensure, mobility, and other state regulatory issues.
- Help develop advocacy materials, including comment letters, policy briefs, and research memos for use by the state advocacy team and state societies.
- Support state societies in their advocacy efforts by providing background research, comparative analysis, and data on important issues.
- Contribute to the team's communication efforts, ensuring that advocacy updates are distributed to state societies and partners.
- Lead the development of the legislative tracks for the AICPA's Interchange conference, working with our teams and external partners to ensure impactful content.
Qualifications
You Have:
- A Bachelor's degree in public policy, law, political science, business, or a related field
- 7 years of experience in government affairs, legal research, regulatory analysis, or advocacy.
- Knowledge of state legislative and regulatory processes in the area of professional licensing and business regulation.
