A role in Environmental Compliance and Ethics means working in an area that will support efforts to identify, prioritize, and minimize areas of risk for Target Stores, Supply Chain, and Headquarters facilities.
As a Senior Program Owner - Environmental Compliance you will:
- Develop and enhance enterprise-wide compliance programs to address permitting or reporting requirements for air, water, and waste programs as well as Fire Code standards related but not limited to IFC, NFPA and NIOSH regulations.
- Owns and oversees processes for managing and completing required environmental permits and reports by reviewing and updating annually to reflect state requirements.
- Escalates and manages environmental compliance permitting and reporting issues
- Support compliance program modernization by leveraging program performance data to make program improvements
- Maintains a deep knowledge of environmental compliance regulations and industry best practices by reviewing regulations, training and participating in professional associations like RILA and NAEM
- Maintains an understanding of relevant business practices and processes
- Have a good understanding of HMBP, Tier II, HMT2 and related High Pile permitting processes and facets.
- Participate in Target Forward sustainability and best practice efforts to reduce environmental impact in air, water, and waste operations
- Manage responses to environmental regulatory inspections and interact with regulatory agencies
- Communicate training requirements and expectations on environmental programs and collaborate on training development
- Supports the prioritization of environmental compliance needs and assists in determining resources
- Leads or participates in cross functional teams in the development and execution of short- and long-term environmental compliance solutions
- Contribute to and maintain a positive team culture by demonstrating behaviors consistent with Target's values of Inclusivity, Connection and Drive.

About You:
- Bachelor's degree or associate degree in environmental science, engineering or related field, and 4 years work experience in environmental, compliance, or other related field
- General or working knowledge of EPA compliance with Clean Air Act (CAA), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), Clean Water Act (CWA).
- Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact with vendors, customers, and team members at all levels; strong attention to detail is required
- Ability to work independently and adapt, prioritize, and successfully manage multiple tasks or projects in response to competing priorities
- Ability to facilitate meetings, and collaborate effectively, internally and externally, across all levels of an organization
- Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to leverage data to influence decisions, identify risks and improvement opportunities.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office/Similar Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, OneDrive, PDF, SharePoint)
