The Opportunity: Reporting to the VP Operations, the Production Manager, Beverages Division is responsible for overseeing the operations of the cannabis beverage manufacturing plant from coordination of staffing and movement all the way through production to provincial purchase order fulfillment. The duties include managing the day-to-day operations, material movement and inventory, and developing strategies to create optimal plant performance to drive positive margin contributions for the company while hitting monthly, quarterly and annual revenue targets.

Scope of Role:
  • Manage the daily operations of the plant using a hands-on approach by being present on the floor for the majority of the day
  • Promote our People, Safety and Quality Philosophies to ensure that every production employee understands the importance within the company
  • Assure compliance with all regulatory bodies in collaboration with the Quality team
  • Maintain all necessary administrative and production records with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • Produce and deliver regular update reports regarding productivity of the production plant, including progress on costing, margin improvement initiatives, capacity planning and daily production improvements
  • Communicate to all employees using communication boards and other communication tools and techniques to improve performance
  • Ensure adherence throughout the entire plant to current SOPs, with a continuous improvement approach to the creation and revision of SOP's as required, including making recommendations for process improvements and efficiency gains in support of lean manufacturing
  • Support the utilization of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems throughout all processes with the goal of becoming fully integrated
  • Work with Valens Planning and Procurement business units to advise on and further develop the Available to Promise inventory records utilizing the ERP systems and processes as they relate to inventory flow and reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with the Technical Development and Innovation team on the install and maintenance of new/existing equipment to meet production demands, including the establishment of KPI's and capacity limitations to support the scheduling team


Knowledge and Experience:
  • 10+ years of Production and Supply Chain experience, with a minimum of 5 years leadership experience managing a production plant
  • 3-5 years of experience applying the principles of lean manufacturing to a light manufacturing/consumer produced goods operation
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant area of study or related ASCM certification is considered an asset
  • Excellent leadership qualities, with the ability to delegate, train employees, define & set goals and manage expectations
  • Always acts with urgency
  • Highly conscientious and attentive; uses logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions
  • Ability to follow through on projects from start to finish; with focus being on completion and post-completion analysis to drive continuous improvement
  • Promotes a culture of respect and equality throughout the organization, with demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate, motivate and lead a team
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise
  • Strong computer skills; experience with Microsoft platforms is an asset
