Job Summary:

We are seeking a UX/UI Designer with a strong visual background and an understanding of the process and techniques of converting graphical interfaces into digital interactions. The ideal candidate loves solving complex interface design and interaction problems, collaborating cross-functionally, and coming up with elegant, powerful solutions. In addition to developing & delivery final product designs, you'll do initial research and analysis, wireframes and prototypes, usability testing, and UX QA of builds.

What You Will Do:
  • Work closely with UX Researchers & Architects to translate requirements into style guides, design systems, design patterns and attractive user interfaces.
  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.
  • Conceptualize original ideas that bring visual and design simplicity and user-friendliness to complex design roadblocks.
  • Develop concepts leveraging user-centered design into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences.
  • Deliver and ensure final product designs meet Product Owners and Development Teams expectation.
  • Identify design problems, technical limitations, and devise elegant solutions.
  • Present and communicate design decisions cross-functionally and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders.
  • Promote user-centered design, design guidelines, best practices and standards.
  • Ensure accessibility standards are followed.


What You Will Have:

Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Computer Software Industry: Knowledge of computer software industry; ability to understand future products, vendors, technologies, issues, and trends and directions.
Web Software Design: Knowledge of web software design; ability to design, develop, maintain and enhance web-based or web-enabled software.
Human-Centered Design (HCD): Knowledge of Human-Centered Design model, principle, and concepts; ability to understand the perspective of people who experience a problem, their needs, and provide them with a solution which truly meets their needs effectively.
User Experience Design: Knowledge of user experience design tools, techniques and approaches; ability to design applications that are valued, positively perceived and used by clients.
User Interface Design: Knowledge of activities, practices, deliverables and considerations; ability to design effective graphic user interfaces for delivery of information to the client's desktop workstation.
Web Trends & Directions: Knowledge of web trends; ability to utilize a variety of web information and technical tools to apply web developing trends within the organizational infrastructure.

Considerations For Top Candidates:
  • Experience in user experience and interface design desired, preferably within a design firm or corporate environment.
  • B.S. or higher in Human Computer Interaction, Human Factors, Psychology, or other UX-related field or equivalent working experience
  • Must possess a thorough understanding of UI best practices, UI design, and essential graphic design theory
  • Able to produce results independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
  • Outstanding communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional visual storytelling capability
  • Proven experience in creating stunning User Interface Designs
  • Experience in the creation and/or maintaining design systems.
  • Automotive or similar HMI experience preferred
  • Proficient in Figma, Sketch, Invision Adobe XD (CS) Zepplin or other visual design and wire-framing tools
  • Coding is not a requirement but the ability to communicate with software teams is a must. Working knowledge of HTML / Javascript / CSS are desirable
  • Experience and proficiency in UI layout, spec, and prototyping tools
  • Experience managing multiple projects and deadlines
  • Portfolio demonstrating your expertise and ability to articulate your process
  • Project management experience a plus.

Summary Pay Range:
$95,640.00 - $155,400.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
