Overview Tecolote Research is actively seeking to fill an available Data Scientist position supporting the Space Force as a member of the Space Systems Command (SSC) Business Intelligence Group. * Translate business needs into technical requirements
* Iterate with customers in an agile manner to ensure satisfaction
* Develop and maintain data pipelines
* Generate analyses and visualizations for ad hoc data requests
* Build dashboards to provide insights for recurring analytics needs
* Train and deploy models to forecast events (time series) or predict outcomes (machine learning)
* Leverage Large Language Models (LLM) or other Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) capabilities to solve business problems

* Minimum of 5 years professional experience in analytical roles
* Ability to work on-site in El Segundo a minimum of 2 days per week
* Proficiency with data transformation in Python (Pandas and/or PySpark)
* Excellent communication and presentation skills
* An eye for effective data visualization and dashboard design Nice to Have: * Active Secret clearance
* Experience with Palantir Foundry analytics platform
* Power BI, Power Apps, Power Automate, SharePoint, SQL
* A working knowledge of the AI landscape (supervised/unsupervised learning, reinforcement learning, deep learning, GenAI, prompt engineering, etc.)
* Experience with the use of LLMs in a business setting
* Familiarity with the government acquisition lifecycle * Advanced degree
* Relevant professional certifications
* Continuing education in Data Science/Analytics/Artificial Intelligence Education Bachelor's degree required, preferably in math, engineering, business, or the sciences.
