INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST with Security Clearance

Duties As an Information Security Specialist, GS-0080-12, you will serve as the Wing Chief of Information Protection at Air National Guard facilities. Accountable for achieving program goals and objectives across multiple functions and disciplines and providing a focused, seamless, and supportive environment for protecting information in order to conduct effective air, space and cyberspace operations. Chairs the Wing Security Advisory Group (WSAG) or facsimile and directs activities of its diverse membership to develop risk assessments and analyses. Advises the Commander on risk assessments and recommends risk avoidance/mitigation. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. * May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. * Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. * Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft. * This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random drug testing. * The employee will be required to obtain and maintain a TS-SCI security clearance within one year of appointment. * Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. Qualifications GENERAL EXPERIENCE : Experience, education or training in collecting and analyzing data effectively, efficiently, and accurately. Able to apply procedures and directives by reading and interpreting technical material. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively orally and in writing, using presentation and report formats. Demonstrated ability to follow directions, to read, understand, and retain a variety of instructions, regulations, and procedures. Learned ability to assess the surrounding environment to recognize immediate risk levels. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : 1year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Must have experience and knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices to review, independently analyze, and resolve difficult and complex security problems. Must have experience with a broad range of security program relationships, and proficiency in information, personnel, and industrial security to effectively implement and administer applicable security programs and/or coordinate with other specialized security programs. Must have experience with a wide variety of guidelines including public laws, Executive Orders, the Code of Federal Regulations, Department of Defense and Air Force policy letters, and NGB and ANG policies and regulations for a portion of the activities.
