Overview The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 is responsible for performing inspections, testing, troubleshooting, repairs, and service of fire alarm systems to uphold safety and compliance standards. The Fire Alarm Service Technician 1 will work under the guidance of senior technicians or supervisors to develop expertise in fire alarm systems and related technologies. Essential Functions and Responsibilities * Perform routine inspections and functional testing of fire alarm systems, ensuring compliance with NFPA 72 and local standards. * Test and troubleshoot initiating devices, notification appliances, and system components, addressing malfunctions or deficiencies. * Assist in inspections and testing of interconnected systems, including elevators, HVAC shutdown, and fire doors. * Document all service activities, including inspection results and repairs, and complete testing reports with noted deficiencies. * Communicate system performance and deficiencies to customers and account managers for accurate quoting of recommended repairs. * Collaborate with senior technicians and supervisors to learn advanced fire alarm system technologies and best practices. * Assist in the installation, maintenance, and upgrade of fire alarm systems, and determine materials needed for repairs. * Respond promptly to service calls and emergency situations, adhering to safety protocols and maintaining compliance standards. * This is not intended to be an all-inclusive list of job duties and responsibilities. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice Minimum Qualifications * Minimum of high school degree and three years of related experience or two years technology degree and one year of related experience. * NICET Fire Alarm Systems Level I or pass NICET I exam within 90 days of employment. Additional Requirements * Ability to obtain US Clearance, minimum DoD Secret Clearance. * Position is subject to an additional customer background check. * This position will require up to 15% travel throughout the United States. * Above average level of attention to detail and professional work ethic. * Commitment to excellence and a high quality of work. * Knowledge of NFPA 72 and OSHA Requirements * Ability to function in a controlled, effective manner under stress. * Strong desire to continuously increase your skill set and take on more responsibility. * Above average communication skills with customers, other field personnel, office staff and sub-contractors Physical Requirements * Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period. * Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance. * Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders. * Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. * Possess good vision (may be corrected vision), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. * May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. * Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong.
