Duties THIS IS A T32 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the AIRPLANE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, GS-2181-13, is to provide ground and flight instruction in high performance, military fighter aircraft F-15 weapon system. In addition to flying training responsibilities, flight instructors perform assignments related to the operational readiness of their unit and administrative tasks in support of the Operations Group program. May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance. Requirements Conditions of Employment CALIFORNIA NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in the California National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Military technicians must be assigned to a military position in the same unit which they are employed or, in a unit that is supported by the employing activity. Military technicians must hold the military grade specified for the position. Military Grades: O-3 through O-5 Must maintain appropriate level of security clearance. Must wear appropriate military uniform including required grooming standards. Must maintain a compatible military unit, grade and job assignment as required by current directives. Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. Pilots are required to maintain the same medical standards as USAF military pilots. Must have graduated from USAF or USN Undergraduate Pilot Training (UPT) with a "Fighter/Attack" Qualification rating. Pilots of high performance jet fighters are required to adhere to the guidance in following publications: AFI 11-404, "Centrifuge Training for High-G Aircraft"; AFI 11-2(MDS) Vol 1, section covering: "G-Awareness Continuation Training"; and AFP 11-419 "G-Awareness for Aircrew" Aircrews of military aircraft are required to perform Chemical Warfare Defense (CWD) training in the pilot CW ensemble Must obtain and maintain TS/SCI Department of Defense Security Fundamentals Professional Certification, Special Program Security Certification and Security Asset Protection Professional Certification conferrals are required within 2 years of the established employee EOD or initial assignment date to this position in accordance with DoD 3305.13-M, DoD Security Accreditation and Certification. Employee may be required to take a random counter-intelligence polygraph and submit to background checks as a condition of employment and/or continued access to the SAP. This is a drug testing position. Qualifications General: Must possess a Federal Aviation Administration certification awarded from an accredited civilian aviation program or an aviation certification from an accredited military aviation school. AIRPLANE FLIGHT INSTRUCTOR, GS-2181-13: Must have at least one year of specialized experience, equivalent to at least the GS-12 level, and at least two years working in civilian aviation programs; or, military service aviation programs (active duty or reserve components); or, in the Army National Guard Aviation Support facility; or, Air National Guard Wing/ Operations Group experience in reading and applying mission tasks, intelligence reports, and weather information; Experience training and instructing others in the piloting of a specified main-frame military aircraft; Experience in supervising and/or conducting mission planning, mission preparations, filing of flight plans, and conducting crew briefings; Experience in applying directives, regulations, accident reports, safety data, and local operating conditions to determine unit safety program requirements; Experience in aviation unit quality control management programs, Experience in the unit flying, explosive, and ground safety programs in accordance with Department of the Air Force, National Guard Bureau, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration directives.
