Help Duties * You will build and lay out keel and bilge blocks as supporting cradles for drydocking submarines and surface ships. * You will establish reference points and aligns ships over cradle during docking and undocking procedures. * You will fabricate, repair, assemble, and install wooden items aboard vessels or in buildings (furniture, deck structures, accommodation ladders, workbenches, bridge deck coverings, laminated plastics and hardboard insulation coverings). * You will set up, adjust, and operate a wide variety of light to heavy, simple and complex, woodworking machinery in the milling and fabricating functions. * You will design, lay out, cut, and install a variety of vinyl tile artistic inlays. * You will design and fabricate mock-up, containments, and protective covers so specified atmospheric and cleanliness controls can be met. * Experience using and maintaining tools, instruments, and related equipment as appropriate to one or more lines of work, using tools on rough or routine work, on fine or unusual work.
* Experience doing maintenance work on tools and equipment including preventive maintenance, grinding, and setting tools.
* Experience constructing covers for small boat storage, set up, adjusting and operating a wide variety of light to heavy, simple to complicated woodworking machinery in the milling and production of wood and plastic products.
* Knowledge of woodworking characteristics, selecting wood as to specified or suitable kind and production of wood finishes and wood products, such as precision shaping, mortising, tenoning, doweling, turning, rabbiting, routing, and molding of irregular shaped parts.
* Experience laying out work, setting up machines, interpreting and working from blueprints, sketches, templates, and samples.
* Experience operating wood preservation and fireproofing facilities.
