Duties * You will be responsible for the evaluating and determining procedures and methods within the framework of accepted practices. * You will direct team members and ensures that data are being properly collected, compiled, analyzed, evaluated, refined, archived and staged. * You will be responsible for planning and carrying out assignments, resolving most of the conflicts that arise, coordinating with others as necessary, and interpreting policy on own initiative to meet management set objectives. * You will make adaptations as required to seek optimum solutions to diverse and unanticipated problems which may arise in the field. Qualifications GS 11 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience with hydrographic and bathymetric data collection and dissemination is required. * Experience with hydrographic and bathymetric software, as well as the ability to evaluate bathymetric/hydrographic data for use in NP4 procedures and products, is essential. * Experience with performing quality assurance for bathymetric/hydrographic products, along with associated hardware/software systems, including documentation and configuration management, is necessary. * Experience in fulfilling the requirements to conduct survey duties for up to 50% of the time. GS 12 In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: * Experience with managing hydrographic and bathymetric data collection, product generation, and dissemination. * Experience with proficiency in hydrographic and bathymetric software. * Experience with evaluating bathymetric/hydrographic data and understanding how to incorporate it into NP4 procedures and products. * Experience with performing quality assurance for both bathymetric/hydrographic products, as well as associated hardware/software systems, including documentation and configuration management. * Experience in fulfilling the requirements to conduct survey duties for up to 50% of the time. Education Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess General Physical Science Series, 1301 * Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. - OR - * Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Geophysics Series, 1313 * Degree: that included at least 30 semester hours in mathematics (including calculus) and the physical sciences (geophysics, physics, engineering, geology, astronomy, meteorology, electronics, etc.). or * Combination of education and experience -- courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. Oceanography Series, 1360 * Degree: major study of at least 24 semester hours in oceanography or a related discipline such as physics, meteorology, geophysics, mathematics, chemistry, engineering, geology, or biology, plus 20 additional semester hours in any combination of oceanography, physics, geophysics, chemistry, mathematics, meteorology, computer science, and engineering sciences. - OR - * Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. ***TRANSCRIPTS MUST BE PROVIDED*** Additional information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program.
