Duties This position is located in Phoenix, Arizona with the 161st ARW. The purpose of this position is to serve as a base systems administrator to monitor the Local and Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN), including the planning, analysis, acquisition, design, development, implementation, quality assurance, configuration, installation, integration, maintenance testing, operational integrity, and/or management of networked systems for the transmission of information in voice, data, and/or video formats. THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. Requirements Conditions of Employment * ARIZONA AIR NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. Prior to appointment into this position, selectee must be a current member of the Arizona Air National Guard, in a military position assigned to 161st ARW. * This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard, required prior to the effective date of placement. * Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. * Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. * Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement. * Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. * Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation. * May be required to successfully complete a probationary period. * Participation in direct deposit is mandatory. * Incumbent must possess and maintain a current state driver's license. * Conducts travel to and from offsite worksite(s) from the normal work area to perform assigned duties. This may include Operating Locations (OL) and GSUs. * (CONT) Due to distances involved, travel may involve one or more overnight stays. * Maintains required information assurance certification IAW DoD 8570.01-M, Federal Information Security Management Act of 2002, Clinger Cohen Act of 1996, and current AF directives. * Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a Top Secret Security Clearance within 12 months of appointment. * Irregular (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. * Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain 1D7X1Q AFSC within 12 months of appointment. * Incumbent must possess or be able to obtain a Security Plus Certification within 12 months of appointment. * This position conducts information assurance functions. The incumbent shall comply with the requirements of the certification program and will be required to obtain and maintain certifications. * (CONT) Certification requirements are outlined in DoD instructions 8570.01-M. Qualifications Military Grades: E-5/SSgt to E-6/TSgt Compatible Military Assignments: Must possess or be able to obtain 1D7X1Q AFSC SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE : 36 months specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade. In addition to the OPM IORs specialized experience examples, specialized experience includes experience, education, or training that approaches techniques and requirements appropriate to an assigned computer applications area or computer specialty area in an organization. Experience planning the sequence of actions necessary to accomplish the assignment where this entailed coordination with others outside the organizational unit and development of project controls. Experience that required adaptations of guidelines or precedents to meet the needs of the assignment. Experience preparing documentation on cost/benefit studies where is involved summarizing the material and organizing it in a logical fashion. Knowledge of a wide variety of established commercial network design programs and how they interrelate and function within various environments. 5.
