Airfield Operations Specialist with Security Clearance

Duties * Provides direct support to unit and other military and civilian aircrews, during scheduled and unscheduled flying and ground activities. * Provides aircrews with information and assistance, necessary for planning and conducting safe flight operations. * Processes flight plans, conducting necessary research and/or queries in the coordination of scheduled flights. * Assists the Airfield Manager, Airfield Operations Manager or designated representative. * Participates in the scheduling of airfield activities with tenant and transient aviation units requiring use of the airfield. * Performs daily airfield inspections/checks for conditions, physical security, and force protection to ensure a safe airfield environment. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a Flight-line Driver's License per AR 95-2. * This position has been identified as being mission essential required to report for duty during inclement weather, natural disasters, and other emergency situations as directed by the Senior Leadership. * This position requires irregular hours of work, and rotating shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays with high periods of stress. Subject to changes in shift assignments following regulated notice periods. * Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 10% of the time. * Must be able to pass pre-employment and periodic medical examinations. Specialized Experience: have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes Demonstrated experience 1.) Gathering information to brief aircrew regarding airport/airfield area ground and airspace issues; 2.) Conducting routine Airfield/Airport Inspections for safety, security, and operational functionality, and 3.) Coordinating, and de-conflicting the movement of aircraft and/or ground equipment through the use of electronic and radio equipment. OR Education: have successfully completed a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position, such Air Traffic Management. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Combination of experience and education:have the specialized experience as described in A, but less than one year; and I have at least one year of graduate education as described in B, but less than the required two years. I have computed the percentage of the requirements that I meet, and the total is at least 100% (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then, divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages.
