Description:

Duties * Receive, authenticate, and vet visitors entering an installation. * Respond to and/or contain crisis or urgent situations including accidents; man-made, biological, chemical, radiological, or natural disasters: or other incidents that could result in harm to people, property, or the environment. * Control access to the installation/Federal property and restricted areas, identify security risks, and provide traffic management. * Secure government and contractor facilities against unauthorized access, identify suspicious activities and ensure continuity of operations. * Maintain visitor control roster and badge accountability log. * Participate in mobilization exercises, demonstrations, mock situations, and other practical scenarios to ensure emergency requirements are met. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. * The duties of this position meet the criteria for compliance with Federal and Department of the Army Drug Free Workplace Programs. * This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. * This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter * The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. * This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. * This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training. * This position requires the employee to use personal protective equipment provided by the employer. * This position has been designated "Mission Essential" * This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations. * This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. * Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315 * Incumbent must be able to obtain and sustain state certification for operating the NCIC terminals. * IAW AR 190-56, requirements of Individual Reliability Program apply. Employee and prospective employee of this job are expected to maintain a high standard of conduct; and when being considered for employment and periodically thereafter. * Employee must be trained and maintain current required certifications in CPR techniques and must know first aid. May act as a first responder in a medical emergency. * Incumbent will be required to maintain physical conditioning and pass an annual physical agility test (PAT). * Employee must obtain and maintain applicable certifications in operating various electronic equipment and sensors. * All weapons training and qualifications will be conducted IAW AR 190-56 "The Army Civilian Police and Security Guard Program" * Must maintain yearly weapons qualifications. Specialized experience: One year of specialized that includes work with federal, state, municipal, or private protective organizations performing facility access control measures granting access to persons and vehicles with appropriate authorization, operating physical access control equipment such as barriers or other tools to secure buildings or access points, safeguarding personnel, information and critical assets, preventing theft, damage and trespass through enforcement of security policy or regulation, recording visitor information to determine if appropriate authorization for access exists. Such experience must provide knowledge of protective systems and techniques. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
