Duties * Manages the base LAN/WAN systems, designs and monitors new complex network systems, configures and installs network hardware/software, and maintains LAN Operations Installs, configures, and troubleshoots complex network and apphcat10n server hardware, operating system software, and peripheral network equipment such as routers, bridges, cabling system, network interface cards, moderns, multiplexers, and concentrators * Keeps abreast of emerging technology to predict future network needs. Works with technical support personnel resolving problems in fields of rapidly changing technology. Develops test procedures to ascertain user friendliness, applicability to the work environment, and compatibility to existing networks * As a senior IT specialist, participates in management discussions, meetings, committees, or special projects. Works to achieve and support quality in network products and services. Presents clear, concise, and well-structured presentations that address the designated issues. Identifies problems and resolves conflicts through persuasive discussions with responsible members or managers in meetings or working groups * Prepares Information Operations (IO) related finished technical/intelligence analysis reports and provides focused IO related analytical support to NW Ops. Performs in-depth research, compilation, and analysis of a wide range of complex and sensitive information to determine NW Ops threats to the USAF, DoD, and US interests. From research and analysis, produces both short and long-term NW Ops related technical/intelligence products from which Squadron leadership can base decisions and allocate resources * Assists m the d1rect10n, coordination, review and evaluation of NV Ops related technical/intelligence activities within 91 NWS and coordinates those activities with Group, Wing, MAJCOM, 24AF, USAF, DoD and national-level agencies. Reviews and evaluates all source technical/intelligence data and reports for content and responsiveness to taskings, providing constructive feedback to enhance mission performance Requirements Conditions of Employment * U.S. Citizenship Required * All new DCIPS employees are required to complete a two-year DCIPS trial period. * Position is designated SPECIAL-SENSITIVE and requires eligibility for access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI), other intelligence-related Special Sensitive information. * This posn is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program * Must be registered for Selective Service, see Legal and Regulatory Guide * TRAVEL AND RELOCATION EXPENSES WILL NOT BE PAID. * This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. * Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. * Incumbent is subject to psychological screening/ polygraph testing as an inherent primary requirement of their position. * Disclosure of Political Appointments * Direct Deposit: All federal employees are required to have direct deposit * The employee may be required to travel in military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary duty assignments. * The employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, which may include evenings, weekends and/or holidays. * Information Assurance: Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M. * The incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six-month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. * Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position. Qualifications This is a GG-12 position in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). The GG-12 duties for the "Professional" work category are at the "Full Performance" work level and are equivalent to those at the GG-12 level. The selectee's salary will be set within the grade equivalent to a GS/GG grade based on the selectee's qualifications in relation to the job. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for Individual Occupational Requirements for Information Technology (IT) Management Series, 2210 (Alternative A) BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT: Individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below. * Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. * Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. * Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. * Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Your resume must reflect the quality level of experience which demonstrates the possession of the knowledge, skills, abilities, and competencies necessary for successful job performance required for this position. Examples of creditable experience include: Knowledge of IT system server and integration methods, performance tuning methods, test and evaluation methods and procedures, IT security principles and project management principles. Knowledge of hardware and software protocols as well as technologies and tools related to electronic attack and defense of such systems. Knowledge of a full range of IT methods, regulations, policies, products and services sufficient to develop specifications to ensure compliance with security requirements at the LAN level and to plan and coordinate the delivery of an IT security awareness training program for end users at all levels within the organization. Note: Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector, or experience gained in another government agency. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: 1 Knowledge of a full range of network systems (LAN/WAN) design pnnc1ples, methodologies, and approaches used m developing, testing, installing, operating, managing, and maintaining network services that support functional requirements. 2 Knowledge of IO and the interplay of geographical, political, military, economic, and industrial forces in various regions of the world, focusing on intelligence and NW Ops threat entities, operations, and capabilities that may be directed against USAF, DoD, and other US resources 3 Knowledge of NW Ops and US intelligence community policies, entitles, missions, resources, operations, capabilities, databases, and requirements to perform intelligence research, planning, operations collection, target analysis, and other intelligence collection related activities 4 Ability to quickly assimilate disparate data and render knowledgeable and accurate assessments of the implications of such data, and to apply facts and estimates derived from numerous sources to a variety of problems having different technical aspects 5 Knowledge of complex configuration management technical requirements appropriate to managing base level network systems 6 Ability to gather facts and use effective analytical and evaluative methods to assess information, plan the sequence of actions necessary, make sound decisions, and solve a variety of network problems, and to analyze component interrelationships and evaluate network systems and computer applications from an operational perspective. Ability to maintain an up-to-date awareness of technological advances and predict how management can meet future requirements. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
