Duties * You will perform periodic patrols of the installation for stray, abandoned or neglected animals, capturing animals and transporting them to the local animal shelter. * You will investigate reports of animal bites or aggression, immediately responding to and isolating/controlling and detaining animal until appropriate action is taken. * You will respond and investigate reports of animal abuse and neglect. * You will initiate corrective action to protect the animal if there is evidence of abuse or neglect. * You will document and report abusive or neglect incidents. You will evaluate animals for suspected medical conditions and ensure a safe and clean living condition. * You will administer the Installations and Environment Department's Feral Trapping Program, for cats and dogs. Overtime and/or unusual hours may be required. This position requires shift work. * Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must be 18 years of age. * This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision. * You must pass a written deadly force test prior to being issued Oleoresin Capsicum (OC Spray). * You must be willing and able to submit to a pre-employment physical exam prior to employment * Failure to meet conditions of employment may result in disciplinary action or termination. Qualifications GS-05:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Providing investigative and administrative support pertaining to the handling, control and transportation of stray, wild, domestic, abandoned, neglected, and/or abused animals. GS-04:Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of general experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. General experience must demonstrate the following: Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work indicating the ability to acquire knowledge and skills for handling the control and transportation of animals.
