Description:
Duties * Serve as a Shift Supervisor for the Law Enforcement force assigned under the authority of the Senior Commander at Installation Management Command (IMCOM) supported installations. * Conduct traffic law enforcement patrol using specialized equipment such as radar, Lidar and breathalyzer. * Perform protection duties to deter, detect, and deny unauthorized access at fixed installation, internal compound, and incident perimeter posts. * Operate the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) terminal in accordance with federal and state laws to transcribe data. * Perform supervisory and administrative duties relating to the police force. Requirements Conditions of Employment * Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. * Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance. * Successfully graduate from the United States Army Civilian Police Academy. * Incumbent must be able to successfully pass training, certification and qualification requirements related to law enforcement work functions as prescribed by policy, regulations or statutes. * Incumbent must successfully pass a pre-employment and recurring medical evaluation. * Incumbent must pass a Physical Agility Test (PAT) within 30 days of hire date and annually thereafter. * Incumbent must comply with and maintain the requirements of the Individual Reliability Program (IRP). * This is a Testing Designated Position (TDP). Incumbent must take a pre-hire drug test and annually thereafter in accordance with Alcohol and Drug Abuse Prevention and Control Program. * The 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968 covers this position. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for this position. * Incumbent in this position is designated as Mission Essential. In the event of a crisis situation or inclement weather, the incumbent must continue to perform the duties until relieved by proper authority. * Incumbent must possess a valid state driver's license and be able to obtain and maintain a government motor vehicle operator's license. * Hours of work is subject to irregular and/or rotating shifts, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays. Incumbent is required to work overtime as directed and is subject to recall for emergency overtime. * Official Temporary Duty (TDY) up to 10% of the time may be required. * Incumbent is subject to possible civil action due to improper exercises of authority or injudicious use of force in the apprehension or detention of individuals. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) enforcing laws, procedures, orders, directives, and/or regulations when conducting law enforcement work; 2) investigating crimes or accident scenes by searching for clues, interviewing witnesses, or making arrests; 3) providing protection of personnel or government resources; and 4) assisting with training police personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service GS-08. Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
