Duties Summary Continued: as well as the performing support functions as Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) Site Security Manager (SSM). Duties: * Processes applications and issues identification cards, contractor access badges, and temporary passes to eligible personnel. * Performs DBIDS Site Security Manager duties, maintaining DBIDS equipment and coordinating network infrastructure support with local communication squadron personnel, Air Force Security Forces Center, Defense Manpower Data Center, and enrolls personnel in to DBIDS. * Performs criminal history background checks for base access suitability determinations through use of the National Crime Information Center database and local Nebraska Law Enforcement Terminal system. * Executes accountability inventories for restricted area badges and other forms of identification credential media issued by the Pass and Registration section, and conducts criminal records checks on newly hired federal civilian employees, contractors, and base volunteers. * Represents the Pass and Registration section with a variety of installation and functional area organizations. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. * This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Testing Program. * Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety. * Incumbent of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, to include the Group Coverage Qualification Standard for Clerical and Administrative Support Positions for the GS Security Clerical and Assistance Series 0086. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-04, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a body of standardized security rules, regulations, and directives to perform a full range of standard personnel security assignments such as processing a variety of security actions, processing forms for various investigation requirements, reviewing reports of information/investigation on individuals to determine whether to establish Security Information Files, responding to routine inquiries about personnel security matters, and identifying mismatches and erroneous data on reports. OR EDUCATION: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: * Knowledge of security processes and procedures and general clerical office functions. * Knowledge of installation physical security procedures, security forces/law enforcement data systems, and information required to issue badges, passes, vehicle registration, or other forms of installation and restricted area entry authorizations. * Knowledge of DBIDS hardware components, procedures for troubleshooting, relocating equipment, replacing equipment components, and conducting equipment inventories. * Skill in researching, interpreting and applying appropriate Air Force, MAJCOM, DoD, DHS, and local policies and regulations. * Ability to plan and organize work, follow instructions, and accomplishes multiple ongoing projects. * Ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of individuals, using a high degree of tact and courtesy. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
