Duties As a Boat Builder and Repaier for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, you will serve along other support personnel and provide maintenance services on a variety of sailing and power-driven vessels ranging from 14 to 65 feet. Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include: * Maintaining fiberglass hulls and decks on a variety of sailboats and motorboats to include buffing, sanding, polishing, waxing and painting. * Repairing damage to fiberglass hulls and decks. * Preparing spars and rigging for use, tune and adjust rigs for racing. * Maintaining and repairing running and standing rigging to include lines, blocks and hardware. * Maintaining and repairing deck hardware including winches, cleats, stoppers, blocks, tracks and cars. * Installing equipment on boats.
